Vintage Top- Plum Huipil from Chajul (M/L)

$89.00

Handmade in Chajul, Quiche Guatemala, this top will add a geometric and flashy style to your wardrobe. Wear it with denim or linen pants for a casual picnic day in the sun, or spice it up with a skirt and boots for a fun night out on the town! Either way you wear it, heads will turn towards your boho-stylish self.

This pre-loved top was hand-woven on a back-strap loom with "Aleman" cotton in a Plum Purple color base. This type of top is one of our most popular garments because of how soft and cool the hand-woven fabric feels.

Iconography: This stunning top has a woven-embroidered design of various butterflies on the sides of large Mayan Hummingbird. The Guatemalan people see birds as a sign of spirituality. Their noble nature and musical colors will hold special meaning to someone who is in tune with their inner spirit or searching for peace within themselves. Great piece to add to your ethical wardrobe!

CARE:

  • This Huipil was 100% handmade from beginning to end; therefore naturally there will be some imperfections. You could see some loose threads, DO NOT pull just snip with scissors. Or you can use BLOUSE SNAG REPAIR NEEDLE to repair weaving stiches.
  • For a better care, we recommend hand wash or DELICATE cold cycle
  • Dry flat

Please note: The entire piece is genuine hand woven and hand embroidered. Many Huipiles are now embroidered using sewing machine which can also be referred to as 'hand made'. This piece handwoven entirely without the use of machine. It is a genuine pre-loved piece and therefore shows some signs of age and loose thread but has no holes or repairs and is in remarkably good condition considering it's age. A loose thread, fringed hem, faded or over-dyed colors are all signs of your huipil's life and should not be viewed as imperfections. Unless you are a perfectionist and in that case, this probably isn't the top for you.
