Handmade in Chajul, El Quiche, Guatemala, this top will add a geometric and flashy style to your wardrobe. Wear it with denim or linen pants for a casual picnic day in the sun, or spice it up with a skirt and boots for a fun night out on the town! Either way you wear it, heads will turn towards your boho-stylish self.

This pre-loved top was hand-woven on a back-strap loom, 100% cotton in a Dark Navy Blue base.  This type of top is one of our most popular garments because of how soft and cool the hand-woven fabric feels.
Iconography:  This stunning Huipil has a woven-embroidered design of Peacocks.
The Guatemalan people see peacocks as a sign of spirituality. Their noble nature will hold special meaning to someone who is in tune with their inner spirit or searching for peace within themselves. Birds are a common figure of protection in the Mayan culture. Great piece to add to your ethical wardrobe!

Please review measurements below to ensure proper fit. All sales are final.

Measurements on flat surface: Sizes are a "fits like" guide and not a standard measurement.

  • Condition: Beautifully preserved pre-loved piece, with some loose threads at the hem, though this doesn't impact the structure. It's slightly asymmetric, meaning that one bottom is shorter than the other one, so you can decide where to wear it on the front or back. The embroidery is intact and stunning  - a true masterpiece!
  • This vintage Huipil was personally and ethically sourced; and the artisan was paid fair price.

CARE:

  • This Huipil was 100% handmade from beginning to end; therefore naturally there will be some imperfections. You could see some loose threads, DO NOT pull just snip with scissors. Or you can use BLOUSE SNAG REPAIR NEEDLE to repair weaving stiches.
  • For a better care, we recommend hand wash or DELICATE cold cycle
  • Dry flat
